| Tao Jones (January 2010): | story: This took quite a while to finish. After an aborted attempt to release this on new years eve (in which exactly two people downloaded -- one of them my mum) -- I did some final cleanup and I think I'm finally happy with it.
The song is about confronting the day. Kind of a Grand levée type thing. The reasons we rise from bed at all -- can be complicated. I'm a fan of waking up at some ungodly hour, drinking a bunch of strong tea (the pic is illustrative) and jogging. I used to call that 'my tao' (the term is somewhat misused -- but i appropriated it correctly)
Regardless, I wanted it to be a call to action. A new year, a new life, a new path. Wake up, fight for justice, fight for what's right, love, passion.
lyrics: Wake up it's morning
The kettle sings my name
the colored light that flows in
leads me to the day
why, why go?
I'm tired...and cold
Everyday something is added
because everyday something is dropped
everyday something remembered
because everyday something is lost
So stop your dyin
We've gotta lose our chains
Like the sun we rise up
We've got the world to gain...
