      Smitten (February 2009):

story:
Where to begin.

Well this marks my digression from the emo-acoustic songs of the last year or so because i'm tired of all that wordiness -- I just want a song that expresses.

I've been playing with this riff since 2004. Never released it. I believe i wrote the basic drums and piano then. Then i picked it up again in late 2008. reinstalled, got back into it in January 2009. Wrote the bass. Pretty good. Did some vocals. By this time the song had gone through something like 3 name changes -- first it was 'fuck your role models,' then 'PnB,' then 'Mr. Sunday Morning,' and finally, after a trip to paris where i got reinspired and recorded some trains, came home, laid down the guitars and it became 'smitten' for a valentine release.

The themes here are kind of oriented around life in general, with ebbs and flows. Good and bad times in life. Things get good, and crescendo, then fall apart. But faithfully, they restore themselves and build back up, bigger than before (pardon the fact that i love big buildups).

If you have to imagine a setting for this, think of wandering around paris after having a pleasant conversation with someone...well..someone.

lyrics:
'Aulnay sous Bois' -- remarkable as one of the centers of the 2005 banlieue riots. I recorded this as a video on the bleu line -- later the voice talks about having to switch trains.

'Be your sunday morning' -- the last vestige of the 'Mr Sunday Morning' vocals.
